CE class price change for non-GCAAR members

As of September 1, 2020, the cost for non-members to register for GCAAR’s CE classes is increasing to $10 per instruction hour.* The new cost breakdown for non-GCAAR members is as follows:

  • 1.5-hour classes: $15 / $30 same-day registration
  • 2-hour classes: $20 / $35 same-day registration
  • 3-hour classes: $30 / $45 same-day registration

We offer a subsidized class rate of $10 per continuing education class as a benefit to our active primary, secondary and affiliate members—and will continue to do so.

Attendance policy

In order to comply with the real estate commission regulations, participants must arrive on time; no exceptions. We cannot allow anyone to enter the classroom after the class has started. Cell phones, pagers, newspapers and laptops may not be used while class is in session. No one under the age of 18 is allowed in the classroom.

Inclement weather policy

GCAAR Education classes follow the Montgomery County school system’s inclement weather policy for the Rockville office and District of Columbia school system’s inclement weather policy for the District of Columbia office. If the school system is closed, all classes are cancelled in that location. If the system is on a delayed opening schedule, morning classes will begin at 10 o'clock and afternoon classes will proceed as scheduled. If you are unable to attend classes due to extreme weather conditions, GCAAR will refund your registration fee.

Class registration transfer, cancellation and refund requests

  • Continuing Education ($10 classes)
More than 24 hours in advance of originally scheduled class, registrants can cancel their registration online for a refund of the cost of the class. For registrants who wish to change to another class session, GCAAR recommends cancelling the first class and registering for the second class – this may be completed online.

Less than 24 hours in advance of scheduled class, we cannot offer transfers or refunds.  Here is a tutorial on how to cancel a class online.
  •
  • CRS, Designations, GRI, and other Professional Development (classes over $10)
More than two weeks in advance of scheduled class, registrants can cancel their registration online for a full refund of the class registration fee.

Less than two weeks in advance of scheduled class, we will offer a 75% refund of the class registration fee. Here is a tutorial on how to cancel a class online.
  •
  • New Member Orientation Transfer
All new members must take the orientation within 180 days of joining GCAAR. Failure to attend will lead to a suspension of your membership. If you need to change your scheduled orientation date more than 24 hours in advance, you can make the change online. Here is a tutorial on how to cancel a class online.

If you are within the 24-hour window there will be a $25 fee to cancel or reschedule.

IMPORTANT: Members rescheduling their New Member Orientation date will also need to reschedule the MD Code of Ethics course that is scheduled directly after the 1.5-hour Orientation session.

Distance Education Policy

GCAAR may occasionally offer classes through a live-streaming format. These classes may include webinars for professional development, as well as CE classes, as approved by local real estate commissions. To provide these classes, GCAAR will use a live-streaming format, such as Zoom. Students are responsible for the performance of their own technology, including audio volume, video clarity and reliable internet connection. By attending a virtual CE class, you consent to being recorded in order to ensure compliance with state licensure regulations. CE courses that are held virtually will meet for the same duration as the in-person classroom course, and attendees are required to be visible and engaged for the duration of the course.  Additionally, local commissions will set specific requirements to be awarded CE credits for the class, which can be reviewed in GCAAR’s Distance Education Policy

For additional assistance, see our guide on joining a Zoom class.
