Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors®

Apply for GCAAR's 2025 Board of Directors

The Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS®' Board of Directors is responsible for leading the association's 12,000+ members year by year. The nominees are selected based on a wide variety of factors, including association service, leadership skills and professional experience.

The Board of Directors meets bimonthly, and each board member is expected to actively engage and participate in association functions and efforts throughout the course of the year.

Additionally, a candidate for election as a Director or Officer:

  • Must be a primary REALTOR® member of GCAAR.
  • Must hold a valid real estate license in the State of Maryland or the District of Columbia.
  • Must be part of a firm that has offices in Maryland or the District of Columbia, and work primarily from a place of business in Montgomery County or D.C.
  • Shall have been a member of the Association for at least four (4) consecutive years prior to the nomination.
  • Must have served on a GCAAR committee for at least two (2) full years of the last five (5) years prior to the nomination.
  • Shall not have been found in violation of the Code of Ethics within the last 36 months. 
  • Must be a GCAAR Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Champion.

GCAAR members passed a bylaw amendment to add a non-voting Affiliate member to the Board. This member will be elected to a one-year term. To qualify for the board, you must:

  • Be an affiliate member of GCAAR.
  • Must be part of a firm that has offices in Maryland or the District of Columbia, and work primarily from a place of business in Montgomery County or D.C.
  • Shall have been a member of the Association for at least four (4) consecutive years prior to the nomination.
  • Must have served on a GCAAR committee for at least two (2) full years of the last five (5) years prior to the nomination.
  • Be a member in good standing with GCAAR.
  • Must be a GCAAR Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Champion.
