The Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® has selected Jackie Simon as its REALTOR® of the Year for 2003. Jackie was chosen for her outstanding, long-time service to the REALTOR® association and to the community. She is an associate broker with Avery-Hess, REALTORS® in Gaithersburg, Md., and a member of the association's Board of Directors.
In addition to her work with GCAAR, Jackie is very active on local and state levels with committees and groups focusing on topics pertaining to people to equal rights. She has created and is the leader of several such organizations that fight for equal rights for people with disabilities.
Jackie has won numerous awards for her community involvement, including citations from Montgomery County and the Maryland House of Delegates. She was named a Hometown Hero by the National Association of REALTORS® earlier this year.
She is a member of GCAAR's Public Policy Committee, has served on other committees for GCAAR and MRIS, was the first woman President of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, has taught many seminars and courses relating to disabled clients and has testified before Congress regarding fair housing issues. She has also earned the designation of GRI (Graduate REALTOR® Institute).
Jackie has lived in Montgomery County for more than 40 years and has been affiliated with the Avery-Hess, REALTORS® and its predecessor company since 1977.
GCAAR is the voice for REALTORS® in Washington, DC and Montgomery County, Maryland. Representing more than 9,000 real estate professionals in the greater capital area, GCAAR provides numerous services vital to its members' daily business needs and works with lawmakers to ensure public policy that encourages home ownership.
