The Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® (GCAAR) raised $3,400 in contributions for the National Center for Children and Families (NCCF) at the association's 2007 annual awards luncheon. Held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, the event highlighted the public service and volunteer efforts of local REALTORS®.
NCCF is a private, nonprofit agency with a 90-year commitment to serving families in the capital area. NCCF's residential programs serve homeless families, victims of domestic violence, and vulnerable adolescents. Other programs include treatment foster care, social services for family reunification, parenting education, independent living, and stabilizing families in the community.
This donation continues the work of GCAAR Cares, the community service arm of the association, which works with area charities by providing volunteers for project-based initiatives and financial support. GCAAR Cares has worked with such groups as Rebuilding Together of Montgomery County and Washington, DC, the Montgomery Housing Partnership, and Habitat for Humanity.
