What is a cookie?
Some Web sites store information in a small text file on your computer. This file is called a cookie. There are several types of cookies and you can choose whether to allow some, none, or all of them to be saved on your computer. If you don't allow cookies at all you may not be able to view some Web sites or take advantage of customization features such as local news and weather, or stock quotes.

Choose the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options"

Internet Explorer cuts off the margin when I print a Web page. How do I fix this?
If you change the way Internet Explorer sets up a page for printing, it should work correctly.
Click on the "File" menu and select "Page Setup"
If it's currently cutting off the right margin, set the margins to 0.25 inches. You may have to experiment by printing a few Web pages to get the results you want. You could also try to print in landscape.

I have trouble with one Web site. I enter my user name and password, but the next page is blank. What am I doing wrong?
Your Internet Explorer probably does not allow pop-up Web pages, which interferes with some Web sites that use pop-up windows for passwords. Check the icons on the lower-right corner of your screen. If one of the icons represents a pop-up stopper program, right click and choose "Exit" or "Close" to temporarily shut it off. The pop-up stopper will automatically load the next time you restart windows.

If you have Windows XP Service Pack 2, you can turn off the pop-up stopper. Open Internet Explorer, click on "Tools," Internet Options, select the Privacy tab, and uncheck Block pop ups. Also check your Internet Explorer toolbar. Disable any toolbars that have pop-up blockers. Note: If you press the Ctrl key when clicking on a link, it temporarily disables pop-up stoppers.

When I click on a link in Outlook Express or Internet Explorer, a smaller window appears each time and I have to resize it. How do I stop this?
Open a new Internet Explorer window, but this time don't use the maximize button to enlarge the window. Instead, drag the corners to get your preferred size.
Hold down the Ctrl key and, at the same time, click on the "File" menu and select Close. Do not use the "X" in the upper right corner to close the window.
That should fix your problem—but if it doesn't, repeat the instructions using the Shift key instead of the Ctrl key.

How do I set the home page?
This can be done in more than one way, but the easiest on a PC is to go to the Web site you wish to use as a home page; once there, click on the "Tools" menu and select Internet Options. Then check Use Current as your home page.

How can I stop page numbers and headings from printing on each Internet page?
Click on the "File" menu and select Page Setup. Delete all text that appears in the header and footer text boxes, and then click OK.
