DC Homeownership Opportunities

Back to DC Issues

GCAAR is proud of its legislative record of working with the DC government to provide homeownership opportunities for people of all incomes. We also are proud to highlight the terrific homeownership programming offered by DC's Department of Housing and Community Development and its dynamic director, Mr. Stanley Jackson. More programs are on the way, like the GCAAR-endorsed Employer Assisted Homeownership Program, which grants tax credits to employers who provide home purchase assistance to their employees whose household income is 120% or less of the area median income and who are also new homebuyers in the District. The credit is equal to one half of the assistance provided by the employer and is limited to $2,500 per employee.

The District government provides a number of incentives to individuals who buy houses in the District and to developers who build housing for low and moderate income buyers. For information on any of these programs ask your REALTOR or the Department of Housing and Community Development at (202) 442-7200.
